Winning

Today I was in a music competition (the Kiwanis Music Festival) and of course being a competition it's competitive. It's ridiculous how much the students push to win and even worse the parents. Both parents and students a like are extremely rude, stuck-up and snobby. To win for them is everything. I've seen it where parents yell at their kids for not winning and even the kids who don't win curse out the people who have won and even the judges. It's ridiculous how much emphasise is put on winning. Now, that said it is a nice thing to win but it's not the main point of being there. It's to do what you love, preform, learn and watch others preformances. Now, how this relates to startdoll has to do a little with this:

What is the big fixation on winning? You won't believe how many times you will see girls saying it's their dream to win covergirl on stardoll. Hunny, if that's your one goal in life you better change your outlook on things. Really what's so great about winning covergirl? It feels great at the time to win something but after a while you forget, others do to. In all reality do you remember any of the old covergirls? The answer is no right?! A Covergirl winner just becomes one face out of a sea of winners. The glory lasts a day until a new girl comes and sweeps away the title the next day. And at that the odds to win are extremely, utterly low.

My total point is: winnings not as great as it seems. Once you win you'll be glad for a few days then eventually it becomes a thing of the past. As stardoll being a virtual site what do you really get out of it? Tons of gifts from random strangers, page views through the roof and endless pages of guest comments which the majority of will be advertisements. If this sounds like a swell walk in the park, well then be my guest and keep running for stardoll but really take a step back and realize that winning isn't everything.
