Why? Greed? No - it's just normal.

Stardoll. The royalty status, the superstar icon, the stardollars.
I am sure that despite the number of non-ss users on Stardoll, the most active ones are the Superstars. Those people who have paid to get an upgrade, the next level, do best.

So what is this like from Stardoll's point of view? They are making the Superstar into a necessary step towards acheivments like covergirl, and having people visit your page. You might not realise it, but they are constantly pressuring you to want, or need, a membership, for reasons the exist only online. Look at this picture.

Even just on the cover of Stardoll, they have 5 adverts for upgrades and stardollars.

I personally think this is morally wrong. Most users on Stardoll are only about 10-12 and can be easily influenced on these matters. I myself have given in to these temptations, but to be honest, it wasn't worth it.

Back to the question then - why does Stardoll do it?

The most obvious answer is probably greed, or money, but hear me out.

This picture shows the top half of my blogger dashboard. Immediately, I could see three adverts to either use blogger's services, or get an upgrade. So, in a nutshell, the point I would like to make in this post is -

Sure enough, Stardoll pressures us into buying their products, but they are not alone.

Stardoll isn't being unfair, it is just trying to keep up with the increasing number of ads on other sites.

Thanks for reading,

Oh wow, this post is awfully short. I do have a few problems with this entry. This is not much of a rant, at first I thought I was going to love it until I got to the dashboard picture. You sound against the adverts and I thought you would go farther into that but then you go saying that stardoll is not the only website that does this. you then almost seem to be siding with stardoll. This to me is not really a rant. Good luck.

@cia-lynn It was meant to be a rant about how people thought that Stardoll was being bad, but it in fact was normal. I tried to show this in the title and the points at the end. Thanks for your comment!

So. The title was a bit confusing to me. It'd would have been better if you worded it differently. So this was short and was hard to feel your rant come to life. What I mean is, I dont feel ny emotion coming to me. Like I can't tell if your angry, annoyed, or anything. But what is good about this is that it's relatable. Before I got my debit card, I used to secretly pay for SS through Dao Pay (my home phone) or cell phone. Although, this topic seems to be more inside than outside the box. Good luck though. And ftw, 2/3 blogger adverts you showed where FREE features.

This was good, but it wasn't what was asked of you.
